This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
I've had one support inquiry on this for the time being and it from
the logs I was sent, it appears as if iTunes 7.6.1 is having issues
processing AppleScripts targeting it.
I've tried long and hard to reproduce the issue, yet I have not been
able to.
Can you describe your setups in more detail with regards to iTunes,
please?
For example:
- attached players?
- shared libraries?
- location of the local library?
- QuickTime version?
Meanwhile, users of pretty much all tools that use AppleScript with
iTunes seem to experience the same problem:

From what I know to this point this is a problem only Apple can fix
with an update to iTunes (=> or you by installing an older iTunes
version that does not expose this problem).
I'd still like to work with you to get to the root of the problem /
identify the AppleScript command that iTunes is hanging on (although a
workaround will be difficult next to impossible as AppleScript /
AppleEvents is the only interface available for third party apps to
talk to iTunes).
Best regards,
