If you'd like to add a Siri Remote later, choose Set up new device… from Remote Buddy's menu item, select your model and follow the instructions on screen.
Remote Buddy turns the remote's touch surface into a trackpad that allows you to click, drag and scroll:
Press the middle of the ring briefly for a left click.
Press the back button briefly for a right-click.
Press the middle of the ring for more than 1 second to initiate a drag. Press it again to end dragging.
Touch and briefly rest your finger on the top or bottom of the ring. Then move clockwise along the ring to scroll down, counterclockwise to scroll up.
Touch and briefly rest your finger on the left or right of the ring. Then move clockwise along the ring to scroll right, counterclockwise to scroll left.
In Remote mode, touch input is ignored and all button on the front are available to control apps.
Use the button on the side to switch between Remote and Trackpad mode.
To invoke the Virtual Keyboard, long press the button on the side. Then use the touch area to type text on it.
Press the button on the side again to return to the previous mode.
Press the Home button to open Remote Buddy's menu, where you can switch and quit apps, change the system volume, trigger actions, browse the filesystem, put your Mac to sleep - and a lot more!
While in trackpad mode, the built-in Mousespot feature puts the mouse cursor in a spotlight whenever you touch the center of the remote's ring.
Ideal for presentations and finding out if you're in trackpad or remote mode.
You can tweak when and how long the effect appears in Remote Buddy's Preferences > Hardware > Siri Remote.
